Here are the winners, results for Bass Pro Shops marathon on Nov. 7

It was a beautiful morning for the approximately 2,800 people to walk or run in a 5k, marathon and more Sunday.
For the past 15 years, Bass Pro Shops Fitness Series has been working to promote health and wellbeing through its events like the News-Leader 5k, Bass Pro Shops Marathon and Cohick Half-Marathon.
“There is a huge positive mental health aspect to walking or running a 5k or relay or marathon,” Bass Pro Fitness Series Director Melissa Bondy told the News-Leader this past week. “This isn’t really about just the positive physical outcomes. It’s about the positive mental and emotional outcomes that come along with being active and sharing such positive, uplifting experiences.”
Rick Wilton, of Joplin, was one of several crossing the finish line for the News-Leader 5k early that morning as his wife, Brenda, waited for him. He was feeling “tired but good” when they embraced.

Wilton’s been running marathons for decades but had to slow down because of his knees. Now at 73 years old, he has running partner Miranda Hembree to keep pace as their spouses cheer them on.
“I remember the very first Bass Pro weekend,” Wilton said. “It was only like 800 people.”
The Bass Pro Shops Fitness Series aims to promote the health and wellbeing of the community and all its participants. Its mission to serve includes giving proceeds from events to local non-profit organizations that align with the goals and mission of Bass Pro Shops.
